Finding the Courage to Tell Your Story

Petros was just a teenager when he first stepped into TUMO, carrying with him a quiet demeanor and a world of untapped creativity. Today, at 27, he’s a filmmaker on the brink of completing his most ambitious project yet—a film adaptation of Hovik Afyan’s Red novel. But beyond the lights and lenses, Petros’s story is one of transformation—a journey shaped by a space that taught him how to dream, connect, and believe in himself.

Before TUMO, Petros described himself as introverted, a person who lived “behind walls.” It was a place that challenged him to step out of his comfort zone, open up to others, and embrace collaboration. The true turning point came when he first learned to edit film. The process of shooting, editing, and exporting his first project wasn’t just technical—it was emotional. “When you finish and export, it feels like flakes of inspiration falling down on you,” he says. In that moment, filmmaking became more than a skill—it became a calling.

This reflects how, when teens are given the right tools and a supportive community, they begin to believe in their own ideas. Petros’s story, like so many others, is about finding the courage to share your voice, no matter how big or small your story might seem, and knowing that it has a place in the world.
