Team becomes TUMO’s chief technology partner in Armenia

May 2, 2024, Yerevan: Team Telecom Armenia pledges support for TUMO’s mission of making modern technological education available to all Armenian youth. Hayk Yesayan, General Director of Team, and Marie Lou Papazian, CEO of TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, formalized this commitment by signing a memorandum at TUMO Yerevan. As per the agreement, Team will offer internet services at a 50% discount to existing and future TUMO centers and boxes across Armenia, with the eventual aim of providing it for free.

Enabled by the cutting-edge NGN network under construction across Armenia, Team will furnish high-speed internet crucial for uninterrupted learning at TUMO.

Hayk Yesayan, Executive Director of Team Armenia, underscored the significance of backing the education and technology sectors. “Team and TUMO share a common mission albeit in different domains. Our focus lies in delivering top-notch, high-speed internet to all Armenians, while TUMO focuses on providing contemporary technological education. Together, we aim to enhance education quality for the Armenian youth across all regions and foster community engagement.

Presently, 10 TUMO sites – comprising centers and boxes – enjoy high-speed internet courtesy of Team. This provision will extend continuously to encompass all TUMO centers and boxes established within the TUMO Armenia initiative.

Marie Lou Papazian, TUMO’s CEO, stressed the vital role of private sector engagement in education’s evolution, likening it to the internet’s pivotal role in 21st-century education. “I am sure that thanks to this and similar cooperations, we will be able to make the skills of the future available to all the youth of Armenia one day earlier,” she remarked.

As part of its ongoing endeavor to democratize innovative education, TUMO plans to establish a network of 16 centers and 110 boxes, catering to 80,000 youth weekly.

Furthermore, the memorandum outlines collaboration with the EU-funded TUMO Labs project and the 42 Yerevan programming school. Under this agreement, Team specialists will conduct educational workshops and programs for students involved in these initiatives.
