Illusions in Motion: Your Animation Adventure

The phenakistoscope, invented in the 19th century, is an animation device that creates the fluid illusion of motion. During TUMO alum and current animation workshop leader Gayane Boyajyan’s learning lab, Gyumri TUMOians made their own phenakistoscopes by drawing (or even embroidering) everything from the phases of the moon to a frog turning into a prince, and a rat abandoning a sinking ship (metaphorically).
