Every time we talk about a new location for a TUMO Hub or a Box, one question pops up without fail: When is TUMO coming to Vanadzor?
It’s a question we love to hear because it means the excitement is real. But to answer it, we have to rewind to the day we first set foot in Armenia’s northern Lori region by bringing a TUMO Box to the Spitak community.
“When I began to attend the first TUMO Box in Spitak, I had so much schoolwork that I sometimes missed self-learning due to the distance,” says 16-year-old Rozi Davtyan, who’s been attending TUMO for over a year and a half and is already inspiring the next generation.
Fast forward two years, and Spitak now has two TUMO Boxes! “I was so excited when a second TUMO Box opened up closer to where I live,” shares Rozi. And she’s not the only one. “When my little sister turns 12, I’ll bring her to TUMO too because it helps teens reach their goals.”
Thanks to the growing network of TUMO Boxes, over 1,000 teens across Lori, from Spitak and Stepanavan to Dsegh, Alaverdi, Odzun, and Shnogh, are diving into cutting-edge tech and design education every week.
We’re incredibly excited about how far we’ve come, and endlessly grateful to our donors and partners who made it possible, including Dr. Varouj Altebarmakian, the Dermenjian Family, HSBC Armenia, and Amundi-Acba Asset Management. But there’s one city calling out to us to complete our footprint in Lori: Vanadzor.
As Armenia’s third-largest city, Vanadzor is home to more than 75,000 people, including over 6,000 students in the TUMO age range. This city has long been a hub of talent, and we’re excited to see what these teens can achieve when given the tools to explore their passions.
We’ve already secured the building for the new TUMO Hub, and the demand is undeniable. Now, we need your support to bring it to life. With Centers in Yerevan, Gyumri, Dilijan, Kapan, Koghb, Yeghegnadzor, and a network of 37 satellite TUMO Boxes, we’re currently reaching over 25,000 teens across Armenia.
But our goal is to expand that to 80,000 teens, and adding Vanadzor to the family would bring us closer to that milestone, reaching over 30,000 teens across Armenia.
