3D Coding Project: TUMO Labs + Osensus

Project Brief

The primary outcome of this collaborative project is to create a program in 3D Fascination that automates 3D modeling and animation in one of the following program languages: Python, Java, C#, and C++. Image and sample recognition will perform a complete scan of the human body. Students will work with a 3DFascination scanner provided by Osensus. 3D Fascination is an automated color and precision object scanning management system used in over 20 countries all around the world.  It is also the world’s only Plug & Play full-body 3D scanner. Students will learn firsthand about the scanner from its creator, German engineer Alfred Waizenauer.

Requirements

Students are expected to work 9 hours per week on the project. TUMO Labs will be open on Monday/Wednesday/Friday from 9:00-3:00 pm for students to work individually or in a group on specific topics and project tasks.

Students are expected to be available for meetings with the project leader on Mondays and Wednesdays in order to review progress made on the project.

Attend 3D Fascination mini-workshops once a week. Knowledge gained during these sessions will help students better understand the project.

Be available between 12/2/2020-14/2/2020 (2 hours/day) for a lecture (“Introduction to 3D Scanning, Photogrammetry and Business models“) led by Alfred Waizenauer from Osensus GmbH Germany on the 3DFascination scanner.
